About Lydon Contracting

Welcome to Lydon Contracting! Since our foundation in 1999, Lydon Contracting Ltd has come to be recognised as one of the region’s foremost civil engineering, utilities and construction companies. Based in the heart of Northamptonshire, we boast a vast catalogue of completed and ongoing projects all over the UK. Working for a broad spectrum of clients in the public and private sectors, including several blue chip companies, we understand the needs of the client and realise that the client’s requests are of paramount importance in relation to project quality. With decades of shared experience amongst the team at all levels throughout the company, we pride ourselves on our high standard of workmanship and quality and believe that a hard working, dedicated and determined workforce is the key to success.

Bespoke Project Management

At Lydon Contracting Ltd we recognise that there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution to a project and as such offer a tailored service to suit each client, each job and indeed every eventuality.  Born out of experience and expertise, our dedicated team is constantly on hand to provide the most cost effective, best value and pragmatic solution to any project, ensuring client expectations are met and indeed exceeded.  This commitment is applied across the board, without exception, and encompasses outsourced contractors (where appropriate), consultants and specialists, all of whom have to be suitability qualified and accredited to comply with Lydon Contracting Ltd corporate guidelines at all times. 

Utilities

Working alongside many of the UK’s major utilities suppliers, Lydon Contracting Ltd is expert in the provision of all utilities infrastructure for new and re-routed connections including electricity, water, telecommunications and gas. This experience has enabled us to be well placed to provide clients with a cost effective, complete service package including; route planning, local authority liaison and service providers.

Power Networks

Our specialist team of power network professionals, are expert in low and high voltage power projects, providing cable installations (both high level and below ground), cable diversions, substation plinths, bases and bunds, substation housing and compounds, street lighting, trenching, ducting and all associated works. Leaving you confident in the knowledge that from commencement of the project to commissioning, all your power and utilities needs have been met in a safe, secure and professional manner.

Civil Engineering

 Expert in every aspect of civil engineering, Lydon Contracting Ltd understands the technicalities and hazards that surround this construction discipline and will provide you with a comprehensive and cost effective solution to any civil engineering project – however problematic. Our experienced team has extensive knowledge in all disciplines of civil engineering and you can rest assured that our dedication and pragmatic approach will provide you with a completed project that is second to none.

Construction

With the ability to provide a bespoke package for all general construction i.e. new homes, extensions, industrial units and refurbishment projects, Lydon Contracting Ltd offers a cost effective and succinct service. Utilising our well established relationships with architects, surveyors and builders agents we will ensure your project is in expert hands.

Fencing and Landscaping

We are committed to the natural environment at Lydon Contracting Ltd and place heavy emphasis on the aesthetic impact that our work has on the area. As such, when we are tasked with the provision of landscaping and fencing requirements, whether it be installation of metal security rails, tarmac or concrete pathways, hard standing areas, highways reinstatement or indeed planting of shrubs, trees and turfing, the end result, above and below ground, will always be considered. Our continued commitment to sustainability ensures that the natural environment is maintained and/or reinstated, as a matter of priority.

We take Safety, Health, Environment and Quality very seriously at Lydon Contracting Ltd. We have implemented stringent H&S compliances with which all team members, clients and consultants are obliged to adhere, both on and off site and we have a dedicated team who constantly keep abreast of current and ongoing legislation. The welfare of all team members is paramount and as well as ensuring their safety whilst at work we are committed to our ongoing training and self development programme. Brian Lydon – Managing Director

With over 20 years experience, Brian understands how the construction industry works, and what it takes to run a successful construction company. Having worked in all aspects of the utilities, engineering and construction sectors, Brian has invaluable practical knowledge of how to directly apply the correct skills and techniques of the trades, along with having the Managerial skills to ensure a value engineered solution is always offered in all aspects of our works. Brian has overseen the growth of the business over the past 15 years and strives for continued success of the company for many years to come.

 


 

Dave Riley – Director of Construction & Utilities

Having spent many years on the ground honing his skills and learning his respective trades, Dave started working with Lydon Contracting as a Contracts Manager and is now our Director of Construction & Utilities. Dave has a wealth of experience and determination and will be overseeing the growth of the Construction and Utility sectors of Lydon Contracting.

 


 

Tony Watts – Health and Safety Advisor

As the business has grown over the last number of years, so has the need for more stringent Health and Safety. Tony’s primary responsibility is ensuring that the operatives are working in a safe and conscious manner. Holding NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety Tony has both the experience and expertise to assess the working conditions and the competency of the operatives on site, giving you the peace of mind in knowing that in all aspects of our work, Health and Safety is an ever present factor.

Joy Taylor – Assistant to MD

Joy works closely with Brian Lydon to ensure that the accounting elements of the business are in order.  This involves both sales and purchase ledger, VAT, CIS Compliance together with keeping a close eye on the many long term projects we run that involve detailed applications.  Joy also works closely with our Accountants to put together quarterly management accounts and year end reports.  Joy has worked for Lydon Contracting for five years and has seen the business grow considerably in this time.

Jonny Linnell – Projects Manager

Having worked for Lydon Contracting for over 10 years, Jonny has proven to be a very hard working and committed member of the workforce. Jonny has completed both SMSTS and NRSWA Supervisor training and oversees the running of many different jobs from inception to completion. Jonny’s main role is to undertake projects and maintain a high quality finished product that both the client and ourselves can be proud of, whilst at the same time it is delivered on time and on budget.

 


 

Stuart Jarvie – Projects Manager

Joining Lydon Contracting in October 2015, Stuart brings years of experience and management skills to our team. Stuart is trained and certified with both SMSTS and IOSH qualifications, which gives him an understanding of the factors involved in what is needed to run a successful project both operationally and in terms of health and safety. Having worked in the utilities sector for many years, Stuart adds a professionalism that will be of great benefit to the longevity of the company.

Mark Basson – Projects Manager

Mark is our project manager that oversees the day-to-day running and growth of one of our development contracts. With sites located all over the country covering a broad spectrum of works ranging from landscaping to utility and drainage installations this work requires key logistical skills that are an incredibly important quality in site management. Mark holds the relevant training and SMSTS qualifications that allow him to continually monitor and assess works on site in order to ensure that all works are in conjunction with current health and safety guidelines.

Clive Gaughan – Site Manager

Being based on site, Clive offers a wealth of knowledge that is invaluable in terms of project delivery. Being fully SMSTS, NRSWA Supervisor and CPCS trained, Clive can offer guidance to those working around him in order to ensure productivity is always paramount. Clive’s role is supervising major utility projects.

Richard Goosey – Site Manager

Another of our site managers, Richard has a wealth of experience in the construction industry. Richard has all the relevant SMSTS, NRSWA Supervisor and CPCS training to oversee and supervise ongoing works to make sure that the work being carried out is in line with the client’s needs. Richard’s main role is supervising major civils and construction projects.

 


 

Sean Gavaghan – Contracts Assistant

Sean assists on the day-to-day running on our utilities contracts and is currently completing a HNC in Civil Engineering, with a view to then to go on to complete a degree in Civil Engineering. Lydon Contracting believes in reinvestment in training and welcomes the opportunity to support Sean while he studies on a part-time day release system.

Ciaran Molloy – Procurement Assistant

Working from our head office, Ciaran is in charge of procuring materials for our current projects. Ciaran also manages the route planning for our beavertail lorries and our 8 wheel grab wagon, ensuring that our clients can always expect a reliable service. Ciaran also has the responsibility of monitoring current projects on the Ting Dene contract and ensuring that they are meeting their financial goals.

Jodi Hector – Office Manager

Overseeing the efficient running of the office, Jodi’s role also involves greatly in assisting Joy with the financial side of the business. Jodi also offers valuable help and assistance to all, which demonstrates one of the businesses many strengths of solid, dependable teamwork – which is at the heart of Lydon Contracting.

Manazza Hill – Administrator and Purchase Ledger Officer

Manazza is the first point of contact when you call into the office of Lydon Contracting. A core part and to control the smooth running of the business is the day to day processing of supplier invoices, and managing all supplier accounts. The payment of suppliers on time is what Lydon Contracting hold great pride in. Manazza also assists with the ordering of materials and managing accommodation needs for all our workers on site.

Our Fleet

Keeping our fleet of plant and vehicles maintained and well equipped to deal with all projects that are undertaken here at LCL is a priority to us and we take great pride in the fleet that we have grown throughout the years. Currently, have a fleet of vehicles that ranges from small wheel based vans to 4x4 all terrain vehicles, beavertail lorries right up to our 8-wheel grab wagon in order to ensure that we have the correct vehicle for the job, wherever the location.

Not alone that, our extensive fleet of plant machinery boasts of excavators ranging from 1.5t mini diggers to 22ton excavators, dumpers, rollers and a host of smaller hydraulic equipment that instils a confidence for our clients in the knowledge that LCL can supply the correct equipment for the job at hand, no matter what we are tasked with.
